T.G.I.F. “Thank Goodness It’s So Fabulous!
Happy Friday, everyone!
THIS FABULOUS FRIDAY, I HAVE FOUND…. MONOGRAMS!
Monogrammed toilet paper available at Knotting Hill Interiors for $19.15 for two rolls. GREAT GIFT ITEM!
Although in today’s society, we use modern monograms almost exclusively for aesthetic reasons, the history of monograms was more for identification purposes. In fact, monograms were first used on early forms of currency, such as clay coins, to indicate the ruler of each particular region. Royalty also used monograms to designate their valuable property, such as weapons and precious metals. Coats of Arms were also an early example of monogramming.
Monograms were originally only two initials, whereas today, we traditionally use three initials. This new format became popular in the 18th century. However, in today’s society, the choice of what and how to monogram is completely a personal choice. Sometimes, a single initial is all that is desired, either with the the first letter of the last name or the first letter of a child’s first name. Pretty much anything goes with monogramming, with the main goal of making each item even more FABULOUS!
In the retail portion of my design shop at Knotting Hill Interiors, we offer a distinct collection of monogramming options for our customers. I am a firm believer that monograms are still ”hip”, yet classic, decorating elements in modern interior design. Included throughout this post are a few examples of ways in which I have recently utilized monograms to spice up the homes of my South Carolina interior design clients. How have YOU used monograms in your room designs? Drop me a comment and tell me all about it! I would love to hear from you!
