Oh, Christmas Tree (Part 2): Themes

When it comes to embellishing a Christmas tree, anything goes! Although red and green are still traditional color favorites for many, the theme of a tree can vary from being “woodsy”, to whimsical, to wild! If you are in search of some holiday inspiration, take a look at these photos of some different colors and styles of Christmas trees… GLITTERY A tree covered in shimmering ornaments and glittering lights is as magical as a starry sky on a clear night! From Southern Accents: Traditional and lovely From Veranda: Seriously?! This tree just drips with elegance and drama.... So gorgeous! From Southern Living: This tree makes me think of a quiet, snowy night. RED Red will always be a festive, Christmas favorite, whether standing alone or mixed with other colors. From Hgtv.com: These red decorations show up very well against the glow of the white lights. This tree itself is actually red! From Southern Accents: All red ornaments make a dramatic statement. Red mixed with gold makes an elegant tree. NATURAL Christmas trees with woodsy, or nature-inspired, themes are warm and inviting. Often, it is even possible to find elements from your own yard to create ornaments or decorations to embellish this style of tree. From Southern Accents: Love the feathers in this tree! From Country Living: This tree is adorned with amaryllis, orchids, and carnations, mixed with dove ornaments. PINK Although it is certainly non-traditional, this pink tree adds a new twist to holiday decor. What a bubblegum-colored tree! COASTAL A “beachy” tree is perfect in my hometown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, but it is also a beautiful choice for anyone who simply appreciates the beauty of coastal living. From Coastal Living: JEWEL-TONED Jewel tones are not only stylish choices in interior design, but they are also updated choices for chic Christmas tree designs. From Hgtv: From Elements of Style blog: From Southern Accents: BLUE Second only to red-and-green holiday decor is the cool elegance of light blue. Reminiscent of refections from the white winter snow, this choice makes a lovely choice for those looking for a change from the purely traditional. From Southern Accents: Mixing blue with copper is a nice combination of colors. The blue ribbon and ornaments stand out against the white of the tree. From Elle Decor: These blue ornaments blend well with the gold on this tree. From Elements of Style: From Southern Accents: These ribbons are a charming addition to this fabulous tree! GOLD There is nothing quite as “royal” feeling as gold ornaments on a formal Christmas tree! From Hgtv.com From Southern Accents: GREEN Non-traditional greens have become a popular choice for contemporary holiday decor. MULTI-COLORED and EVERYTHING TREES The “everything tree” is what many of us are familiar with… covered in all different colors and styles of ornaments. From Hgtv.com: This tree features multi-colored Christmas balls and two colors of ribbon. From Country Living: A whimsical, “everything” tree NOW, GO HAVE AN “It’s So Fabulous!” DAY!
