Interior Design Alert: SNAKESKIN

You have probably noticed all of the snakeskin textures and patterns slithering their ways onto the fashion scene this season. However, have you also noticed the same trend repeating itself in the world of interior design? Yes, indeed. The unique patterns adorning our reptile friends have been cropping up in everything from wallcoverings to furniture, accessories, and rugs! Used in moderation, snakeskin often adds a chic sense of style and intrigue in both fashion and design. Because of its natural origins, snakeskin may often be used as a textured neutral, making it an extremely versatile choice. Depending upon its color and surroundings, snakeskin accents can translate as sophisticated, edgy, sleek, and confident. However… be warned…. too much snakeskin, inserted in the wrong context… may also translate as dated, unrefined, or downright tacky. Therefore, before taking the plunge, you may wish to consider consulting a professional interior designer to assist you, or at the very least, gathering an honest group of tasteful friends to give their opinions. Depending upon your style, snakeskin can be as subtle or bold as you choose it to be! In either fashion or interior design, you may decide to pair your snakeskin with a bold color like purple….
