From the KHI Retail Studio – Go From Casual to Ultra Formal with Decorative Flat Braids

Hey y’ll! Mark here from the KHI Retail Studio and reigning “King of Fabrics” on the showroom floor. I just love talking with our clients about the endless possibilities when it comes to fabrics and embellishments. When addressing “decorative braids” I get really excited because it is usually a chance I have to educate the client about something new and beautiful that they can bring to a headboard, a skirted sofa and chair or even to ordinary draperies to really take it to the next level. Decorative braids are a wonderful way to enhance any space and bring from casual to ultra formal. I love southern design because we tend to really lean towards the “details”, whether that is a hand-stitched embroidered monogram on a pillow or special touches to bedroom, like adding a decorative braid to the duvet or draperies. Traditional southern design is going to allow the room to have many layers of unique surprises without the eye being overwhelmed by a sense of “too much.” These small enhancements help to create that personalized and custom feel. We always carry a great variety of decorative braids in the store along with our amazing selection of fabulous fabrics. The braids come in many different styles, sheens and patterns. It would be my absolute pleasure help you choose which braids and fabrics are going to be perfect for your next room makeover! “I think that is what makes southern design so special. It is about creating a feeling of connection to your grandmothers front porch. It is about tassels and wing chairs and blue and white china handed down from generation to generation.” – Guest Blogger – Mark Jones, “King of Fabrics”, Knotting Hill Retail& Design Studios
