Atlanta Decorators’ Show House – Featuring an Outside Room with a View

If you read last Friday’s Fab Finds, you know that some of my staff and I took a FABULOUS trip to the Atlanta Decorators’ Show House and had an amazing time! Although patrons are not permitted to photograph the interior of the home, they did permit us to take pictures of the outside of the property, along with the gardens. As it turns out, one of my favorite spaces was actually located “outside”. Unlike a traditional greenhouse, this space was as beautiful and well-appointed as any interior room. It was set amongst lush greenery, inside and outside, and it appeared as if it had been “grown” there every bit as much as the surrounding gardens. The union of nature and interior design in this exterior space was so perfectly blended that the contrast between the two components was highlighted at the same time that each element was beautifully showcased individually. The “colors of the day” were purple and green with a splash of animal print. A single color accented with animal print often works beautifully in the interior design world. Although there were actually two primary colors being utilized in this space, the use of green so mimicked the natural setting of the greenhouse, that the color acted as a neutral. I am so thrilled to share a few of the pictures my staff and I captured of this unique space. I hope that they will inspire you as much as they have all of us! A glimpse of the greenhouse from the gardens below The entrance to the greenhouse…. the first glance at the purple-accented theme

Close-up of potted plants by the front entrance of the greenhouse Check out the purple “grout”! What a FABULOUS touch!

This was one of my favorite first impressions! The animal print chairs seemed to be “hiding” like a wild animals among the lush foliage! Here is a close-up of these fabulous chairs! They certainly seemed like they “belonged” here, yet they were unexpectedly refined elements in what would normally have been a very rustic environment.

Couldn’t resist showing one more image of them… Can you tell I loved these chairs?! This lamp was a brilliant choice for this space, since the chicken wire lamp shade did not block the view of the surrounding greenery. Rather, it seemed to blend into its environment, while also dressing up this casual space.

Beautiful purple elements were repeated throughout the greenhouse, even in the live plants. I don’t know about you, but I would love to have dined at this amazing table!

Notice the fabric on the chairs… purple, again…. and with a touch of formality that added interest to the design. Notice the purple and green place settings, which tied together the natural and man-made components of the space.

Close-up of the place setting I love this rustic bakers rack that held all of the necessary supplies for dining in the greenhouse

What a fabulously unexpected idea to add a chandelier to a casual, outdoorsy space. However, they were also certain to use rustic elements for the light fixture, so it would not seem out of place. How cute is this creation!? A pot holder combined with a wine chiller for entertaining guests!

Believe it or not, these chairs were actually made of concrete! These chairs looked so much like weathered leather that I had to sit on one to believe they were actually concrete. WOW!

These two purple settees were located outside of the greenhouse, and as you can see, they seemed as if they were framing an invisible “window” overlooking the gardens and pond below. A view from the balcony of the gardens and pond below. Breathtaking!

One more angle of the gardens from the balcony One final glance at this charming, yet elegant, greenhouse before heading back to the main house.

This is one of my very favorite photos! What a gorgeous view of the staircase from the greenhouse to the main house.

Your pics are beautiful ! * Kimberly Grigg May 5th, 2010 at 2:46 am · Reply The pictures really do it no justice, Tammy. This greenhouse and surrounding gardens were magical! The purple grout was so clever!
