Ask Kimberly - 3 Myths About Working With a Designer

Have you chose to forgo hiring an interior designer because of one of these myths?

Throughout my design “career” (which the number of years shall go nameless…) I have heard my fair share about myths clients and potential clients have about hiring a designer to help them with their home. I have become my very own “myth buster” in this blog helping to break down the stigma you might have about bringing in an expert to support you in designing your dream home.

Myth #1: It will look like someone besides me or my family lives here.

A good designer will put her own preferences aside and interview you and your family well enough to know how to best to treat your space, but also how best to incorporate your personalities in it. The end result should reflect you and not the designer.

Myth #2: I will spend more money than I want .

In the long run, you will spend less. While a good designer is most often going to help you select quality items for your home, you will most likely not have to replace that item anytime soon. I like to encourage my clients to buy well and enjoy for a lifetime.

Myth #3: I won’t have control over my own project.

A good designer is a problem solver. His/her job is to help you maintain control over your project. He/she will help you come up with the best solutions and then, know how to implement them. Rarely, do designers get to make all the decisions unless they are hired to do so. Have I helped you to bust any myths you have had about working with an interior designer? Are there any that I missed? Leave me a comment and let me know! For help with your home or room design please contact us atKimberly@knottinghillinteriors.com and visit our website. That time i refused him but later I realized he was right because cheap color never satisfied me and I was keep changing my color schemes for 1 year and than I realized the value of professional interior designer. * Kimberly Grigg August 20th, 2013 at 7:42 am · Reply James, thank you so much for sharing here.
